Wireless network (LAN) Wifi Wifi With wifi you can connect to the internet via a wireless network, for example at home. Wifi is available in different standards. These arise from the bandwidth: the 802.11a or g is a maximum of 54 Mbps. The bandwidth of the 802.11n standard is between 100 and 450 Mbps. Older standards are Wireless-A/B/G, the most common standard currently is Wireless-N and the newest and fastest are Wireless AC and Wireless AD. To take full advantage of a fast  WiFi standard must be able to handle the same standard for both the transmitter and receiver. On the 5 GHz network you can achieve much higher speeds and the network suffers less from interference than the 2.4 GHz network because there are far fewer devices broadcasting on that frequency. Tri-band provides 1x 2.4 GHz and 2 x 5.0 GHz and can distinguish between the maximum speeds of devices and assign them the correct band.
