Neurotic comedian Alvy Singer (Allen) falls for the eponymous heroine (Diane Keaton) and the two of them attempt to build a solid relationship. Realising their differences stand in the way of a lasting relationship, they split up. It is not long before Alvy wants Annie back, however, but she is now living in California with another man.
