The film follows Nureyev as he travels back to Ufa, the town in the foothills of Russia's Ural Mountains where he grew up, and includes the recollections of his sister, his former headmistress, the dance teacher who first discovered his talents (101 years old at the time this programme was made), and the prima ballerina at the Kirov Theatre who was Nureyev's first dancing partner.
