Animated musical drama which follows the story of Moses (voice of Val Kilmer). In Ancient Egypt the children of Israel are slaves. A prophecy states that a saviour will soon be born and so the despotic Pharaoh Seti (Patrick Stewart) orders that all newborn Hebrew boys be killed. Hoping to save her baby son, a mother places him in a basket and sets him adrift on the Nile. He is discovered by Queen Tuya (Helen Mirren) who adopts him and names him Moses. Moses is raised alongside his adoptive brother Rameses (Ralph Fiennes), the heir to the throne, but when he meets the slave Miriam (Sandra Bullock), she tells him the truth about his origins. Although he does not initially believe her, Moses soon comes to accept his true identity and must then embrace his destiny to free the children of Israel. The voice cast also includes Michelle Pfeiffer, Jeff Goldblum and Danny Glover.
